This Is Our Story

On December 13th, 2015, we lost a son, brother, friend and UW soccer teammate to Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA). Daniel Phelps always spread laughter and joy, and truly made the world a better place. He passed away at just 27 years old.

We couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate Daniel’s life than doing something he loved: playing a round of golf with friends while supporting local foundations that save and support young lives in our community.

In 2017, we launched the inaugural DP Open at Washington National Golf Club, the home of the University of Washington Men’s and Women’s golf team. After a small, but memorable first tournament we knew we were onto something special. From 2018-2021, we hosted and grew the tourney each year at Redmond Ridge Golf Club.

In 2021, we introduced DP Night – a University of Washington Men’s soccer game dedicated to Daniel and building awareness for SCA. The game is always played at Husky Soccer Stadium in the month of October (SCA awareness month).

And on May 19th, 2022 we officially launched DP Foundation, a registered nonprofit corporation in the state of Washington.
To date, we have raised over $130,000 to save and support young lives, with the money being donated to the Nick of Time Foundation and to our Soccership program.
